June. 24. Dar – Same – Manka, Mbaga and Tona Lodge.

A sleepover at Hanna’s in Dar....
Hanna, Claire and our delicious grazing food!
 The three girls!
......then an early morning dash (my taxi man slept in!!) to Ubungo bus depot to board the bus to Same (nth east Tz) to meet up with Susan (Dodo Vol. New Zealand) and fellow Aussie Vol, Phyl. Phyl, from Sydney, had trained in Melbourne with us and left Aus in October to her placement in Zambia. Unfortunately her experience has not been productive or positive and consequently is heading back to Aus. She joined us in Tanzania to explore and see a little more of Africa before returning. It was fantastic having another Aussie with whom to share our adventures. Although initially unplanned, Phyl and I continued our adventures through until the end of my vacation! I know now that she is leaving Africa with a much more positive feeling about the African people! We had so much fun!I will try to keep my summary brief!!!Met Susan, Phy, and John , Susan’s Tz friend born in the Sth Pare mountains near Mbaga. He drove us then gave us his car when he returned to work. Lunch at Same then drove the windy, steep South Pare Mountains to Tona Lodge. Met Cook Monica, Guide Daniel and Gertrude Susan’s friend. Trip was slow as we stopped many times to greet John’s family and friends. Walked down to the small waterfall then enjoyed a war beer for sundowners as we soaked up the majestic views as the sunset deep into the valley below.
