sunday 16th May....To St Priest via Geneva...

I think  it really depends on who you are with and what your expectations are of what you are going to do, that influences your enjoyment of a place or journey! .......because....I loved Geneva!!! My most recent knowledge of this historical city was given by younger travellers not accompanied by locals and I know that being with Maryvonne, Jean Lucien and Fredrique, has had a very real impact on my positive experience. Their daughter, Guillian, attends the Conservatory of Music in Geneva so their knowledge was detailed and interesting......
Walking the streets filled with historical sites..visiting Tavel House: the oldest residential house in Geneva... climbing the North tower of St Jean Cathederal and absorbing the breathtaking 360° view of the city and the Alps....Baguettes for lunch in the Botanical Gardens....strolling through the city Square....seeing their famous fountain sprouting above the extensive boat harbour where Le Rhone makes its way out of Lac Leman....trying to get ourselves out of the city onto the road back to Lyon...stopping to recover and to wander the gardens of Voltair's house.... Wonderful memories for me and a fitting finale to a power packed weekend....
All was going smoothly as we farewelled Fredrique.... when, 20 minutes down the road, Jean Lucien realised that their camera had been left in Fredrique's car....OH WELL....NEVER MIND!!!!! So we retrieved it and eventually arrived back in Lyon...a drive through the Working Hill of Lyon and a stop at the Big Rock (I've forgotten the French name but will fill you in when I have all the details at my fingertips) with the birds eye view into the valley of the 2 rivers....past the walls painted with famous people from Lyon, for some great snapshots... then back to St Priest for soup, omelette, baguette...more great cheeses, fruit, local wine...laughter, fun and reminiscing as we looked at our photos and reflected on the exciting adventure we had just shared!!!
Thank you Maryvonne, Jean Lucien and Fredrique for your friendship and generosity this weekend and for all the little things you are doing for me....You are certainly making me feel very welcomed and happy!
