Tuesday 15 June .Dubai - Exploring The Creek on foot in 42C

15th floor - views are sensational across the city and the Creek

My rest day got the better of me and I just had to get out there and explore....whilst everyone else was taking their 3-4 hour siesta under any palm tree they could find. I wouldn't do it in TNQ but, silly me.... here I was, bursting to see it all, as I strolled happily in the 40+C midday heat!

Scenic route - found Union station after walking Wharfside past the 100s of Dhows. These ancient trading vessels are still used today and brave the waters of the Gulf, Red Sea and Indian Ocean, playing a key part in the economy and livelihood of the cities. They and are built not using nails but are glued and stitched together! Tourists can enjoy a dinner cruise and see an entirely different view of the areas.

I travelled the Metro to Deira City Centre Mall.... another amazingly HUGE shopping mall with everything you could want...I wanted a supermarket...found one...bought some food as my hotel room was self contained. I still wasn't sure which was the closest metro station to my address...so tried Al Rigga, as it looked close on the map. Embarassingly I discovered, in front of the large homebound crowd, that a hotel card doesn't get you through the Metro gate!!! ooops!
I finally arriving back at my hotel after getting to know just about every street in my area, went straight to the rooftop pool and soaked in its refreshing water. A lone swimmer....beautiful views over the night city and Dubai Creek...perfect!
